Ambassadors

This organization is compiled of representatives from Sheldon who serve to recognize special occasions and honorary visitors to our community.   Committee members include: Angela Beckman, Carolyn Vande Brake, Chad Lang, Dennis DeJong, Dennis Ten Kley, Jan Rolston, Lora Vande Brake, Loretta Vander Linden, Phil Grove, Randy Kruse, Skip Tanner, Susan Rensink, Jan Ten Kley, Todd Huesman, Tom Traughber and Mark Kleinwolterink.

Annual Banquet

Banquet is held in January. Karen Christians, Blanca Struyk, Brenda Beenken, Diane Van Drie and Shanelle Helmers.

Celebration Days

This group organizes the events for the annual Celebration Days Festivities over Labor Day weekend.  The committee members are: Cindy Runger, Eric Tigges, Missy Schut, Jeremy Beenken, Nathan Christophel, Mark Postma, Karin VandenBerg, Monica Streicher, Deb Middle and Shanelle Helmers.

Home Show

This committee coordinates the activities and set-up of the annual Sheldon Home Show.  Member include: Brad Hindt, Mike Christians, Sarah Bowen, Stephanie Ball, Ron Beenken, Mark Postma, Jeri Postma, and Shanelle Helmers.

Housing Review:  (LHAP)

The city appointed members of the Housing Review  Board represent leaders from home lending, real estate, and community development.  This committee markets and administrates home dollars made available from the state of Iowa to provide financial assistance to qualified home buyers.  Dennis Gorter, Denny DeJong, Kristin Kleinwolterink, Mark Postma, Amy Sietstra, Dave Van Den Brink, Barry Sterk, Mark Gaul and Scott Wynja.

Marketing

This committee designs and implements projects which promote Sheldon to its residents, visitors, and potential new businesses.  Current members of this committee include: Heidi Nissen (Chairperson), Beth Hamill, Ron Plum, Jeri Postma, Frank Luepke, Mark Gaul, Jan Rolston, Shanelle Helmers, Jo Hindt, Derrick Johnson, Derrick Tripp, Kristin Kolbaum and Cindy Tigges.

Retail

RLF Board

Sheldon's $1,000,000 revolving loan fund portfolio is administered by these financial and legal experts from within the community.  Applications for revolving loan funds are brought to SCDC by any local lending institution.  RLF is designed as a source of gap financing for new or expanding business within a five mile radius of Sheldon.  Darrel Burns (Chairperson), Tom Whorley, Lary Rosenboom, Dennis Gorter, Lyle Kuiper, Phil Warnke, Ken Hengeveld, and Kiley Todd.

RIF Storefront

Our Reinvestment Fund committee, better known as "Storefront" accepts and evaluates applications from property owners wishing to improve the exterior of their buildings.  Forgivable loan amounts depend on project cost or linear store footage.  Frank Luepke (Chairperson), Paula Hamill, Greg Weppler, Skip Tanner, Debbie Den Hartog, Mark Gaul and Kathy Kruger.

Visioning

The Visioning Committee is dedicated to beatifying the roadway entrances into Sheldon.  The folks have spent many hours dreaming and designing fabulous landscaping to greet residents, visitors, and passers by.  Implementation began Spring 2003.  Bill Kehrberg, Duane Wahlstrom, Jan Neel, Keith and Jan Rolston, Lawrence Feyerabend, Mark Gaul, Marlene Pape, Rich Haack, Scott Wynja, Terry Jansen, Thel Boon,  Aletha Stubbe, Betty Wilkens, Larry Smit and Susan Huesman.
