Civic Music Association-

Sheldon Civic Music Association presents four to five concerts by nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians and singers each season for the price of an annual membership. For information, call Eleanor Blankers at (712) 324-2931 or Phyliss DeVries at (712) 324-4317.

Summer Theater-

Sheldon High School Summer Theatre, the only high school repertory in Iowa and one of  just a few in the nation presents a different play for each week for most of June and July. Each summer, the program involves more than 50 students who handle all aspects of theater production from promotion, to selling tickets, to acting, to constructing sets. A Community Theatre Production is presented every other year in June. For information, call (712) 324-2501. Refer to the Community Calendar page for information about this year's productions.

Sheldon Prairie Museum, located at the corner of 10th Street and 4th Avenue houses memorabilia of Sheldon and individuals. Sheldon's Hall of Fame is also located in the museum. .

Prairie Art Council-

Wansink Gallery, Sheldon's art gallery located on East Highway 18 displays the work of area and regional artists and collectors. At this location is a restored one-room country school and the home of Dan McKay, which was used for church services and as a hotel and rooming house in Sheldon's early years. (712) 324-3371.

City Events-

Celebration Days

Sheldon Celebration Days is the annual city festival that takes place every Labor Day weekend. The parade, craft show in the park, food stands and other events make it a great way to spend the long holiday weekend. For information, call the Sheldon Chamber & Development Corporation at (712) 324-2813.

July 4th Celebration is hosted annually by Village Northwest Unlimited on the evening of July 3rd. The evening of activities and events which include a food stand, patriotic music and an old fashioned ice cream parlor is culminated with a display of fire works.

Library The Sheldon Public Library houses more than      30,000 books and 120 periodicals. There also is a supply of videos, books on tape, cassettes, art prints, pamphlets and telephone directories. The library is a member of the northwest Regional Library System and the State Library. (712) 324-2442.

To view the avenue of Flags they are on display: May 1- Loyalty Day, May- Armed Services Day, May- Memorial Day, June 14- Flag Day, July 4- Fourth of July, September- Labor Day, September 11- Patriots Day, November 11- Veterans Day.
